a Chrysler cigarette lighter and ashtray into a Neve module and bolted it
into the console. It was very convenient and between that and the oversized
studio glass most of the benefits of the automobile were achieved.

No, I don't think you can do that in the other direction. We seem to
trust our cars because they're better listening spaces than most people
who don't have a treated room would have access to elsewhere. You can't
make a room trusted by turning it into a car though!
