The GO46 looks to me to be just what I'm looking for (good quality,

find NO decent information about it on the web!

Have you actually seen one yet? Maybe it hasn't actually shipped.

But even if it has, Yamaha isn't the sort of company that most of us,
both pro and hobbyist, look to for a straightforward audio interface.
It may be perfectly fine, but that's just a little part of their
business, unlike the other companies you mentioned.

The question is, why would anyone buy that rather than a similar
interface from M-Audio, TASCAM, Focusrite, or Presonus. The answer is
that it might have one feature that the others don't have that's
important to you. For example, the insert jacks are a nice touch, but
only if you have something you want to insert. Otherwise, it's just
another pair of switch contacts in the signal path to get dirty and
noisy if you don't keep them clean. I see that it appears to have an
optical digital output. Now I might be able to use that to feed the
digital input of my Jukebox 3 if it can be used as an output from the
mic preamps. But if it's just a playback output, I don't need it.
Maybe you do.

So assume, at least for now, that there's nothing wrong with the
audio, and compare the functions and features. When you decide which
one would work best for you in your particular working situation, then
take a hard look at the audio to see if there's anything wrong with it
that would keep you away.
