Some versions of Nero have an "Audio Rip" feature. You will have to
look to see if yours does. Consult its Help file for details.

I don't know if Sonar has that capability.

If I need another app, can you recommend something (preferably
free).

Reaper can rip audio from CDs. So can iTunes and Windows Media Player.
I prefer EAC (Exact Audio Copy).
