Sorry to step into this heated thread...

This 3 dB per octave will cause a 20 kHz sound to be 30 dB lower than a
20 Hz sound, is this what you are saying?

This could well be true but it's quite surprising at first glance!

It's easy to test for yourself. Simply EQ a speaker flat in its direct field or
near-field. Then move it into the farfield and measure the response and you'll
see this tapered shape.

One of the reasons that people have misgivings about equalization is that they
may try to EQ a speaker 'flat' in the far field and then find it's an ear
ripper and blame "EQ" as the problem.
