About 15 years ago when the Beeb still had the F1 franchise they lost
the commentary for the Brazilian GP shortly after the start of the race.
It was marvellous, you could hear the drivers working the throttle, the
tyres sliding and the crowd roaring.and without the inane bellowing the
volume could be set to a decent level, most enjoyable.

Back in the Murray Walker days you HAD to turn the sound off! How
someone could do such a poor job for so many years without being fired
and without learning anything amazes me. James Hunt was always fun to
listen to though. Just as Barry Sheene was for the motorcycles. Miss
them both.
