The RG-174 issue is definitely audible in a double-blind test... I haven't
tried it, but a friend of mine was able to reproduce it even with very poor
quality monitoring. Someone really should do some measurements on that one.

You mean copper plated steel vs copper conductor ? It's obviously cable resistance.
