Default apogee rosetta in a "cheeze-to-quality" environment...can this be done?

i'm thinking about doing this :

getting an apogee rosetta and some sort of maudio or rme digital input
pci card.

route the rosetta via spdif into the digital input pci card

so that gives me two high-quality channels to record with.

for monitoring, i would listen off of the cheezy computer ac-97 sound
outputs*. then when i have more money, i'll get a benchmark dac-1 to
complete the "circle of quality" and hook it up to the digital output
of the pci card.

Are you going to try and overdub tracks? (ie. listen to a recorded track
and add another track on top.) If yes, then your intended setup will not
work. The two different clock sources will be slightly mismatched causing
the two tracks to drift out of sync.

Sorry to **** on your chips!
