Default The truth about accuracy of CD v. LP

I don't know how true this is but I used
to hear that it was necessary to
compensate for the slower speed at
the inner grooves of an LP. This
compensation could be a boost in the
higher frequencies or a boost in the
overall levels. Does anyone know
about this?

If that was the case, it would be done in
the mastering process--not during
playback.

I was referring to the mastering process. This boost would partially
account for the inner groove distortion because it would be more
difficult for the cartridge to track.
