Default The truth about accuracy of CD v. LP

I don't know how true this is but I used to hear that it was necessary

It's common to introduce level boost across the record surface,
sometimes as crudely as by a potentiometer attached by string to the
cutter! This is necessary because pickup carts are sensitive to
velocity, and there's a roughly 2 to 1 ratio of linear groove speed
from outer to inner. Hence, without level boost, the music would
suffer about 6dB level loss from outer to inner tracks.
