Default Anything you think was consistently done better in the past inthe pro/commercial recording world than how it's done today?

Is there anything about a particular arena of recording - pop, classical, opera, TV news, film, etc. - whatever - that you find lacking compared to an earlier era despite all the technology?

There's no question that recording technology is more advanced than
ever. But, at least partially due to today's advanced technology, people
are making recordings for commercial construction that don't use real
instruments and aren't played by real players, and, often, melodies
would be boring if it wasn't for the ever changing "instruments" and
lyrics are meaningless.

But what's important to the music buyers? Hearing something they've
never heard the likes of before, then moving on to something else? Or
hearing a great song played by live players, one that's just as good in
10 or 90 years?
