Default Carvin 993 3-Way PA Cabinets with Dual Tweeters

I'm looking for some helpful information. A local guy is selling some
used Carvin 993 speaker cabinets. They are not on the Carvin web site
(no longer made?), and the manufacturer can't help me out with any
documentation. I did find the following picture and specs by
searching the internet:

http://www.temaproduksjoner.no/bruktutstyr.htm

On that website, the picture looks exactly like the currently-made
model 1588 cabinet.

Problem is, the 993's I found for sale locally don't match the
picture. First of all, they don't have a horn on top. Instead, there
are two tweeters placed vertically and in between the midrange
drivers. Second, instead of two round ports between the woofers,
there is one rectangular port at the bottom of the cabinet. Finally,
on the back panel, there are four three-pin XLR (microphone)
connectors, two male and two female, presumably for use when
bi-amping. I've never seen XLR connectors used on big speakers like
this, it seems odd to use them in a high-current application. Are
there XLR cables available that will handle it?

Anyway, if any of you guys have owned the "old" 993 speakers and can
offer some opinions on them (particularly how well they work for
full-range material including vocals), I'd appreciate hearing from
you.

For that matter, does anyone know if the tweeters on these "old-style"
cabinets are cheap piezo units?

best regards,

Marty
