Hmmmm . . .

I went shopping around today and came across an audio shop that would
sell these decks on "consignment", and my proceeds from the sale
(assuming that the items actually sell and that the guy was on the "up
and up" and that I understand how consignment sales work) would be to
my satisfaction (unlike the prices I have been seeing recently at
"auctions' end" on eBay - it seems to me that these items have
recently been fetching quite a bit less than they did a year ago - the
wrong audience thing might work, but it, i.e., the eBay contingent,
seemed to be the "right audience" about a year ago in terms of the
prices people were paying for these decks - I wonder if maybe the
bottom fell out of the used cassette deck market - but then again, my
recall of the situation might be off).

At any rate, my proceeds from any possible/hypothetical sale (at this
particular audio shop) is right in the (middle of the) "ballpark" of
the used prices listed on "Naks.com" (and my level of knowledge is
such that I can't say how authoritatice/accurate that site is). I
suspect, therefore, that these items are in fact worth something very
close to what I think they are worth. Of course, this is all
hypothetical and there may be factors I am not taking into account,
but I strongly suspect I can do much better than to sell these decks
on eBay at this particular time. Maybe cassette decks are becoming
"esoterica" and the "eBay contingent" may be "mass market" . . . I
have no idea . . .

At any rate, I'm thinking that one way or another, I will be able to
obtain acceptable funds from the sale of these decks, and the new
owners (assuming I don't end up being the last owner) will probably
get a good deck at a good price . . .

Of course, how much anyone other than I really cares about any of this
an unknown . . . hopefully I am not "wasting too much bandwidth" with
this . . .

I have tried eBay but I don't "enjoy" selling through eBay (especially
since nobody seems to want to pay more than $45 for a $500+ original
retail Nakamichi deck!!! - you probably can't buy a brand new cassette
"walkman" for any more than $45!)

This usually means the item is not worth as much as you think it is or
you are reaching the wrong audience.
