How well are those FETs matched?

Hi Scott,
Matching really is the sticking point, isn't it? I've
been working on the issue today, and still don't have you
a good answer. My first thoughts are to first match
for I-sub-DSS, then add a common source resistor, about
10 ohms, to set idle current, then recheck DC balance.
This sorta works, but still says nothing about gM
matching directly.

but how much gain do you really want? That's sort of the question.
I'll take better linearity over more gain any time.

Since you're running the thing into a preamp already, this thing would really
only be a pre-preamp anyway. 20 dB of gain should be plenty, right?

The dualFETs match within 1 or 2% for I-sub-DSS and give a
gain in the 20dB range. Would you be willing to try a couple
beta prototypes for a public project? If so, I'll wire up a
couple in A3F/A3M's this weekend. Email me a USPS address if
interested/willing.

Thanks,
