Default Christmas Advice Please?

This Christmas I'm surprising my son with an upgrade to the OEM audio system in
his 1999 Toyota Celica liftback. The components I've chosen a

MB Quart RCE216 coaxes (2 pair, front doors and rear side panels)
Alpine CDA9813 head unit

Sub package from local dealer:
RFZ3808 subs (x2)
RF Punch 201S amp (for subs)
10" dual sealed slant box for subs
Soundquest 600W wire kit

I know many here will gag at the sub package, but I'm on a budget, and my son does
not listen to rap. It's offered at a great price by a local dealer I trust and
includes installation. Just looking to add some bottom to his existing "subless"
system.

I have an unexpected opportunity to add a RF Punch 501X amp for the RCE216s - in
fact I can get one for free through a promotion at work. Would this be worthwhile,
or would merely doubling the 27 x 4 watts of the head unit with this amp (62.5 x 4
W) make a noticeable difference? I had intended to upgrade the HU's power at a
later date. I take it that with the extra amp I can use the internal digital
high-pass crossover in the Alpine to cut the extreme lows (covered by the subs)
from the MB Quarts, thus making even more power available to them.

I'm at the limit of my budget this Christmas, so no further upgrades are possible
at this time. Thanks in advance for any info you can offer.
