I am new to car audio so I don't have experience with different subs
except with Sony's offers decent subs but clearly not the industry
leader. Alpine's best, the SWX-1242D has a continous power handling of
1000W RMS with a peak of 3000W with DUAL 4-ohm voice coils.This sounds
pretty impressive and it's only $320CAD. Rockford Fosgate offers the
T212D4 with 1000W RMS with a 2000W peak and aluminum dual 4-ohm voice
coils for about $160 more. Alpine's SWX structure is made of a
combination of aluminum, carbon fiber and kevlar reinforced pulp while
Fosgate's T2 is made of aluminum and rubber. Is there a big difference
in the durability of these materials? In terms of price, which one
would be the best buy and would the Fosgate P10002 amp be a good choice
for powering 1 of these subs? Both of these subs got 5 star reviews so
it's impossible for me to decide. Also, does anyone know about the
Alpine 16gb hard drive HDA-5460 HU and why the value dropped from
$1000US to $330US and why it's a rare find...is it just because of the
age or is there anything wrong with it's design. Any help would be very
much appreciated, thanks.
