I was looking around, and I saw freds little headphone amp in a little can
with a bear on it.

Well, Im interested into building something like that, and I ran accross 10
6088 tubes.

Hey fred, Do you have a schematic to that? it looks very interesting.

BTW, Great job on the dogzilla! I like it!

thx.

Hi Dan,

Well, that's one of those "one of those days" things... the circuit was
pretty much hooked up exactly as shown on the spec sheets for the tubes
I used, a 534AX (preamp) and 533AX (power amp). The OPT is external,
mounted to the speaker. Your 6088's appear to be quite similar to the
533AX, so if you want to duplicate the project you'll also need a preamp
pentode (the little PA pentodes don't have very much voltage gain).

I really should finish that up one of these days. There seems to be an
incompatibility between the concepts of "Summer" and "Updating Websites"
in my little corner of the universe...

Thanks. Me too! :)

Cheers,
Fred

Speaking of Dogzilla, have you blown the trailer off its mounts yet with
it? ;-p

No, but only because I don't have cabs sufficiently skookum to use it
with. I actually haven't even heard it at full power yet, except into a
dummy load, with 1/10 of the power going into a small cab I borrowed for
the occasion. (It's surprisingly loud even with "only" 25 watts!)

Really should save up the nickels and dimes for a quad of Celestions or
something. Where I'm living is the perfect place to put it outside and
let 'er rip, without worrying about the RCMP showing up.

Cheers,
Fred

hmm, those are the only ones I have.

couldnt I piggyback 2 of them, or make a 2-stage preamp with them, after
all, I have 10. lol.

It's supposed to have the lowest note ever recorded on a CD,
So You'll be playing the guitar solo from the movie "Crossroads" eh?

I've heard some amazingly good versions of it played in a
musicstore's try-out zone by 15, 16 year old bright kids...
it's a real classic
