NAD 7100 - will not power up

I have a 1991 NAD 7100 receiver that I left on this morning when I left
for work in order to tape something. There were severe thunderstorms
this afternoon during which the power went out at least once and now the
7100 will not power up. It gets AC power through a Monster HT-1000 and
the other components seem to be fine.

This has happened before, but the condition was always corrected by
unplugging the power cord then plugging it back in. That would reset
something, as the receiver is in a 'ready' state anytime it is plugged
in.

I removed the cover and all of the fuses seem to be fine. The front
panel microswitch seems to be fine. The unswitched back panel AC outlet
has power, otherwise, the receiver is dead.

Questions:

Is there something obvious I'm overlooking?

Should just I be happy about 12 years of faithful service from a $630.00
receiver and go shopping?

Some of these NAD's have microprocessor turn on circuits. Some are not available anymore.
Maybe try collecting insurance??

Greg: This model is like that; the green power switch on the front
panel activates a microswitch mounted on a PC board.

Tim: I removed the cover and looked at that fuse. It is on a vertical
pc board at the back, under a zip-tied black flap - you have a great
recollection of the layout! That fuse has a really thin wire with a
small sphere in the middle. It does not look blown, but I want to put
in a similar fuse to be certain.

I believe that there is a transformer mounted on the left side of the
chassis, just in front of a larger component that appears to be a power
supply. It looks a little discolored and has a glob of hardened clear
substance on it, but from what little I know about electronic
components, it appears to be OK.

Since you are in the business, do you think repair is worth persuing?
Considering; 12 years old, original cost of $630, probable $80-100 bench
fee to look at it, availability of replacement parts ...
